Case Study : Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Andrew Hore moved to Surrey with a child diagnosed with autism. He firmly believed that he wanted his son to join a mainstream school but was not sure which state schools had specialist facilities for autistic children.
Having discussed his requirements, we pulled together a list of state school options – both mainstream and specialist – for Andrew to consider. Having visited the schools, Andrew changed direction, thinking that the specialist op&on provided a more positive learning environment.
Working with him over a number of weeks, Dean Associates supported him over the hurdles needed to finalise a support plan with the school and council and secure appropriate funding for support resources.
Andrew wrote, “At the point of the move we were &ed up by the amount of red tape – Dean Associates helped us cut through that and allowed us to focus on finding the right school for our son.”
What our clients say
We have a nine year old daughter with cerebral palsy. Finding the right school was the most important part of our relocation. Dean Associates helped us understand what our choices would be and worked tirelessly with the council and local schools to identify a specialist school for our daughter. She is now happily settled. Thank you
J Ranwan, India
Trying to find a place in a good state school for our children had been a terrible experience before Dean Associates became involved. They helped us make sense of the endless red tape, worked out what we needed to do to maximise our chances and supported us through the appeals process. At each stage they have been positive and creative in helping us find solutions.
Mike James, Reading
Our school in China couldn’t help our son with his university application. Dean Associates helped him identify and prioritise courses, improved his UCAS form and ensured that we only had to pay “home” rather than international fees.
Robert Moss, Shanghai
Dean Associates have been wonderful. They listened hard and quickly grasped what we were looking for and have helped us through the journey – finding schools with spaces, setting up appointments and facilitating the admissions process. We couldn’t be happier.
